On Sundays, I like to set the rest of my week up for success since I am both working and going to school full-time. Throughout the week, I tend to get caught up in schoolwork so that I can spend my weekend doing something fun. I really like having a Sunday reset routine because it makes the week a lot easier and I don’t have to worry about small things like lunches on the day-to-day.

My Sunday Reset Routine
Slow Starts
I like to start out my Sunday slowly with a cup of coffee and by doing something enjoyable for myself. This helps me beat the Sunday scaries, especially if I need to catch up on homework later in the day.
Morning Walk
My pup needs a walk every morning and afternoon/evening (rain or shine) and she will usually let me know when she is ready. On Sundays, she will sleep in so at least I have time for myself to get a slow start, but once she is up, she is ready. She will incessantly whine if I am not moving fast enough to take her on a walk, so that is usually my cue. We will walk with Danny around a mile and then she is ready to chill when we get back to the house.
In the summer when it is warmer and not so rainy, we sometimes will go to the dog park in the morning rather than on a walk, or I will take Juni for a hike.
Workout
I can become a workout skipper during the week, but since I usually keep Sundays for myself I have no other excuse. Right now I am loving doing pilates or yoga at home with obe fitness, or going to the gym and doing small weight lifting workouts and 12-3-30. It’s so cold out right now, but once it starts to warm up, I have been wanting to jump back into running, too.
Homework
Since I am in school, the weekends can be a little catchup for me on homework. If I do have something that I need to work on that is homework related, I usually use the late morning hours after working out. I only have 6 months left of my RN to BSN program so I am looking forward to being able to relax more on Sundays rather than doing homework!
Grocery Shopping and Meal Planning
I am definitely living in the right era because I can’t be bothered to go to the grocery store. It is honestly my personal hell. However, I love order pick up from the grocery store. It is such a time and money saver. Usually, I make a list after meal planning so I know what meals I will be making during the week. It’s easy to get a lot of fun snacks at the store if you are there, or treat yourself to a fun drink. Ordering online, on the other hand, it’s faster to add things to your cart and avoid the impulse buys that really start to add up.
Cleaning
I do clean up on Sundays so that I don’t have to worry about it during the week. Usually, I split up the cleaning throughout the weekend so I don’t have to spend 4 hours on Sunday cleaning. I try to have my scrubs washed so that I can just hang them up to try. Everything is already tidied up by the time Sunday rolls around so I am vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and wiping down all the counters.
Meal Prep
I am a meal prep girl through and through. If I don’t meal prep then I will either spend too much money eating out or just not really eat. Both options are not ideal. Once you meal prep more, it really doesn’t take up that much time. Once you meal prep, you really don’t need to think about lunches for the rest of the week, you just have to grab it and go.
Some of my favorite things to meal prep are:
- Tofu fried rice
- Nourish bowls (rice, beans, veggies, tahini dressing, or other sauce)
- Egg roll in a bowl
- Salads (my favorite is romaine lettuce, kale, quinoa, roasted sweet potato and onions, slivered almonds, and tahini dressing)
- Pasta is always easy to meal prep, my favorite thing to do is make a sauce with red bell peppers to add veggies in
You can never go wrong with rice since it’s so easy to make a lot of, roasted veggies, a protein, and then a sauce.
Relaxing
I don’t like working or doing things up to the last minute before I go to bed on Sundays. Otherwise, I have a lot more anxiety throughout the day. I like to get all the things I need to do for the week done during the middle of the day. Then in the afternoon I will relax, hang out with Danny, or visit with family or friends.
That’s it for my Sunday Reset Routine
My Sunday reset routine is a lot more structured during the colder months since I am not doing as much. In the summer I like to take weekend trips, so some of these things will end up falling off. It’s a lot easier to keep a Sunday reset routine working with an 8- 5 shift. The structure I get from an 8- 5 is one reason I choose outpatient nursing rather than inpatient. A Sunday reset routine can really make your life easier. I would definitely recommend it, especially if you work or go to school full-time.
