It’s that time of year again and I am excited to jump into some new goals and resolutions for 2024. December is a time of reflection for me and I always have new revelations. This year was a busy one. I was married, graduated with my BSN, and worked full-time as a nurse. I accomplished almost all of my 2023 goals and resolutions, which you can read about here. In this post, I am going to share my 2024 goals and resolutions.

The overarching goal that my resolutions are based on this year is going to be getting back to my roots and refocusing my time on hobbies. In 2023, a lot of my time and effort was for external things (the wedding, the degree, etc.). I really didn’t have time for my hobbies or the things I like to do. Since I know I want to have kids in the next few years, I want to spend this year completely focusing on the things I like to do since I’m living in my DINK (dual income, no kids) era.
So what are these hobbies? I feel like I have so many hobbies, but the ones I want to focus on the most are travel, hiking, camping, and my blog. Those are really the hobbies that I need to be intentional about. Other hobbies that I have, like reading, are more spur-of-the-moment. If I wanted to hike, on the other hand, it’s more of a commitment because I need to find a hike, get in my car drive to the hike, spend hours hiking, and then drive back. In 2023, I didn’t get much of an opportunity to be outside and I have been thinking about it a lot lately. It’s something I feel like I need to do to stay sane! 🙂
Okay, so let’s get into my goals and resolutions for this year. Like last year, I am breaking them up into categories. This year there will be four categories rather than 3!
Financial
- Max out my Roth IRA
- Save a downpayment for a house
- Pay off Danny’s car
I think these are three attainable goals for us this year. Last year we were able to pay off my car, and I maxed out my Roth IRA. In 2024, the Roth IRA limit has been increased, but I still think it will be doable. I am also at the stage in my life where I really want a house. I am tired of renting! So, I would love to save a good portion for a down payment. I don’t know how large it will be, but I feel like around $20,000 would be good for now (especially since we are no longer paying for a wedding!). If course it isn’t a great time for most people to buy a house right now (myself included). But, I do want to be in a better position if the market turns around (which I am hoping it will!!).
Blogging
- Have 100,000 pageviews
- Make $1,000 from the blog
- Consistently post at least once each week
I haven’t posted about blogging goals in a LONG time. However, I have been working really hard in the last three months after getting back from my honeymoon to be consistent in posting. It’s helped me set up a good foundation. I want to continue into 2024 with some big goals for the blog.
So, this year I had around 40,000 pageviews and made $120. This is great and I am so glad that people even read my blog and that I can make enough to sustain it. But, I do wish that I was able to scale it. I think about the future and would want to be a part-time stay-at-home mom and part-time nurse. Blog money could help me sustain this dream. Since I already put in the work in running my blog, I just want to be more intentional about growing it and monetizing it.
I have already reached a good start on this goal. Consistency has been something that I was not great with. Going into the new year, I already have posts batched and ready to post so I can get ahead.
Other
- Run a 10k
- Read 30 books
- MOVE to Dallas, Texas!
Just some other random goals I have for this year are to read 30 books (same goal as last year which went well), run a 10k, and MOVE! So as far as running goes, it went to the wayside in 2023. It is something that I do enjoy doing and want to refocus my fitness on in 2024. One thing that stops me from running year-round is the weather in the Pacific Northwest. My motivation tanks when it starts to get rainy. This leads me to my next goal… We want to move! For most of my life, I never would have imagined that we would move out of the PNW. However, Danny and I are ready for a fresh start and new scenery. We are moving in the next couple of months to Dallas, Texas! We have been to Dallas before (in fact, it’s where we got engaged), and love the area.
2024 Goals and Resolutions
That’s it for my 2024 goals and resolutions! I think all of my goals are pretty doable. Some of them will require more work than others. I am excited about what this year is going to bring. There will definitely be some big changes in our lives coming up. However, it’s fitting since it will be the first year I’m going into where I am married!
If you have any goals or resolutions going into 2024, I would love to hear them in the comments below!
